Conditions of Entry

I.FTR100

•Must be at least 20 years old on the day of the event and able to complete the course within the time limit without getting lost.
•The following conditions must be met at the time of entry
i.Have completed at least one trail running event of 100 km or more which announced by the organizer within the time limit, or have completed at least two trail running events of 50 km or more within the time limit during the period from January 1, 2018 to October 15, 2023.
※Competitions that are marked as 100 km but the actual distance is less than 100 km, and competitions that are marked as 50 km but the actual distance is less than 50 km, are not permissible.
※Records listed as over the time limit in the competition results are invalid.
※Entry in the event you plan to complete is not allowed (because it is not fulfilled at the time of entry).
※The conditions for completion of the race will be examined. (About 10 runners are disqualified each year)
※In the event that a false application is found after the payment procedure has been completed, any changes, cancellations, or refunds will not be accepted for any reason.
ii.Experience in trail running at night as deemed necessary to participate in the competition.

II.FTR30

•Must be at least 16 years old on the day of the event and able to complete the course within the time limit without getting lost.
•Those under 20 years of age must have the consent of a parent or guardian (written consent must be submitted at the registration).

Required Conditions for Participation in Tournaments

Measures against new coronavirus infection may be tightened according to national guidelines.

i.Those who are able to submit the Pledge and Health Check Sheet/Equipment Checklist

•Please download the check sheet from the race website and print it out by yourself.

ii.Those who have had a medical checkup within the past year on the day of the event and have no abnormalities.

•Please make sure to be in good health, free from any heart disease or illness, and to have trained sufficiently before participating in the event.

iii.Those in good health on the day of the race

(1) No health problems
(2) No cold symptoms
(3) No other health concerns

iv.Those who can follow the rules and manners of the mountain (FunTrails policy)

•Never drop trash → Prepare a special pocket for trash!
•Pick up at least one piece of trash → Every time you enter a mountain, the mountain gets a little cleaner!
•Greet people twice → once 10m before and once more as you pass them. Show your appreciation!
•Hikers have priority → Don’t forget to say “After you!
•Walk when passing or overtaking hikers → Running gives them a sense of fear
•Stay on the trail → Do not step on plants
•Strictly no headphones → Dangerous to not be able to hear warnings and greetings. Enjoy the sounds of nature!
•Bring equipment to protect your own life → Essential equipment, water, salt, energy, etc.
•Have a sense of respect for temples and shrines → Thanks from the bottom of your heart

v.Those who have watched the YouTube outdoor lifesaving course

While the race organizers will take all possible safety measures, the probability of an accident occurring cannot be reduced unless the players also increase their safety awareness.
The YouTube Outdoor Lifesaving Course will provide you with basic knowledge. Please be sure to listen to the video before running the race in order to protect the lives of your fellow competitors and yourself in the event of an accident.

I.If you find a person in need of rescue, please stop the race, call the race headquarters and follow the instructions.

•The cell phone number of the race headquarters is listed on your number bib.
•By reporting the current location, you will be part of the “chain of life-saving”. Please make use of the mobile phone app.

II.Please return to the race after the first aid staff including marshals arrive on site.

Conditions and Measures for Organizing the Event

To ensure the safety and security of everyone involved, the organizer and staff will take the following measures, including health checks and other measures against infectious diseases.

I.The following conditions must be met.

•A state of emergency has not been declared in the event site (Saitama Prefecture).
•The conditions for holding the event as indicated by the government of the host city are met.
•Sufficient materials to prevent the spread of infection, such as masks, disinfectant solutions, and non-contact thermometers, are available.
•The organizer is able to ensure the safety of participants, staff, and other related personnel.

II.Measures to be taken at the reception desk

•Hand sanitizer should be available at the reception desk.
•Participants who are not in good physical condition may be denied participation.

III.Measures to be taken at the aid stations

•Hand sanitizer will be provided.
•Staff in charge of serving food should wear masks.

equipment

I.The weather may be colder than expected, and in the worst case, there is a risk of hypothermia.
II.The required equipment is the minimum necessary equipment. Please consider your running ability and other equipment.

List of required equipment

1.Cellular phone with the number you reported at the time of entry
2.Portable cup (150cc or more)
3.1L or more water (at the start and when leaving each aid station) (No plastic bottles (with removable suction cups) to avoid contact with the mouthpiece when refueling at the aid stations.
4.Water, salt, and energy necessary for each runner
5.Survival blanket (at least 130cm x 200cm)
6.Whistle
7.Taping tape (80cm or longer x 3cm or longer)
8.Portable toilet *If used, available at aid points.
9.Course map (download from the event website or use a smartphone or watch with GPX uploaded)
10.Rain wear with hood (jacket and pants) GORE-TEX or other waterproof/breathable material with seam-taped seams. (FTR30: jacket only)
11.First aid kit (bandage, antiseptic, etc.)

* Spare batteries can be mobile batteries. However, the lights must be able to be turned on while being recharged. * Additional lights may be carried instead of spare batteries.
15.A sack to be carried on both shoulders that can hold the required equipment and personal gear.
16.Long-sleeved shirt for protection from the cold. Cotton or light underwear is not acceptable.
17.Long tights for protection from the cold. Tights covering up to the knees and long socks up to the knees are acceptable.
18.Gloves for warmth and hats that cover up to the ears. Caps, headbands, etc. are not acceptable.
19.Reflective plates (to be worn on the backpack to be easily recognized by vehicles driving at night).

[Caution]

1.Equipment is for your own protection.
2.For FTR100, all equipment (1) through (19) are required.
3.FTR30: (1) to (15) are required equipment. (16)-(19) should be determined according to your running ability and weather conditions.
4.Equipment will be checked at the registration desk.
5.Equipment that has been checked must not be changed afterwards.
6.Compulsory equipment will be checked on the race course.
7.Any competitor found to be lacking in the required equipment will be disqualified and not allowed to run on the competition course regardless of the reason.
8.Use of poles is prohibited.
9.Please wear shoes that cover up to the ankles (bare feet and sandals are prohibited).

course guidance

The course is being set up with the goal of “Zero Lost”. The main guidance signs are as follows
(1) Arrow signs: red arrows on yellow background
(2) Ribbons: Black adidas TERREX on white background

(4) Guides: mainly in urban areas
(5) Guards: at road crossings

* Guides in the mountains are minimal. Please check the signs carefully before proceeding.
* Arrow signs and ribbons are often removed by someone. Please take the GPX into your GPS watch or smart phone.

3 points to avoid losing the ribbon
(1) Look ahead: It is easy to look down when you are tired.
(2) Check at the fork: There is a sign.
(3) Don’t trust the person in front of you: Check the course yourself to prevent group lost.

Napping

(1) Napping is allowed at A7: Chonenji Temple and A9: Kenmin-no-mori.
(2) From 2023, napping will not be available at A5: Drive-in Yunota. Please be aware of this.
(3) When napping, please use your own survival blanket.
(4) Napping on the course is prohibited. This is to avoid the possibility of being mistaken for someone in poor physical condition and to protect the plants on trails.

drop bags 《FTR100 only》

(1) A bag to be used as a drop bag will be handed out at the registration desk.
(2) FTR100 runners can pick up their drop bag at A5.
(3) Equipment and other items can be returned to the drop bag after use during the course up to the designated point.
(4) Drop bags will be transported to the finish line at Hitsuyama Park by the end of the event.

However, depending on traffic conditions and the progress of the race, it may take some time before the drop bags are returned. In such cases, drop bags can be returned after the event by cash on delivery.

Retirees

(1) As a rule, retirees will be accepted only at the aid stations.
(2) Race-tracking chips must be returned to the aid staff.

(3) A medical check will be conducted at A7 Chonenji Temple. Retirement may be declared at the discretion of the aid staff.

(4) If you have to retire from the course due to an unavoidable emergency, please report to the nearest staff member and follow his/her instructions.
* Caution! Retiring from the race outside of aid stations may seriously jeopardize the safety of yourself and the staff. Please consider your physical condition carefully before leaving the aid stations, and continue the race only if you are confident that you can make it to the next aid station.
(5) If you retire on the course, you may be kept waiting for an extended period of time. However, this excludes cases requiring emergency medical attention.
(6) The medical staff may declare retirees who are considered to be in insufficient physical condition.
7) When you retire, we will take you to the nearest station as long as the Seibu Line is running. Please use the Seibu Line to return to Hitsujiyama Park. Between the last train and the first train of the Seibu Line, you will be picked up and returned to Hitsuyozan Koen.

[!! Request!!]

Runners who intend to retire from the race are strictly prohibited.
We have also seen some runners who leave the aid station with symptoms such as poor physical condition or leg pain, and then retire on the course. Such behavior may endanger the safety of yourself, other runners, and staff. Please take it easy and retire at the aid station.

Race-Tracking Chip

(1) Race-tracking chips must be attached to the front of the runners’ clothing.
(2) Race-tracking chips will be collected at the end of the race to confirm the safety of the athletes.
(3) When it is confirmed that the Race-tracking chip has not been collected, the race headquarters will contact the runners by phone (including emergency contacts) until the safety of the runners is confirmed. If there is no telephone contact, the police, fire department, or mountain rescue team will conduct a search for the missing athlete and the athlete will be responsible for the cost of the search.
(4) If a Race-tracking chip is lost, the runner will be charged the actual cost of the tag (2,200 yen including tax).

about support 《Only for FTR100》

A4: Support is available only at Naguri River Plaza.
– Vehicles are allowed to enter.
– Please use the Naguri-kasen Hiroba parking lot. (1,000 yen/day).
– One support staff member is allowed per runner.
– Please leave the aid area as soon as the support finishes.

cheering

(1) Cheering on foot is allowed at all aids.
– Please do not park on the street. We will request towing as soon as we find out. The towing fee will be charged to the owner.
– A3: Please use the Naguri-kasen Hiroba parking lot. (1,000 yen/day)
(2) Please be considerate to local residents and the surrounding area when cheering.
(3) Cheering with honking is prohibited as it may cause inconvenience to neighboring residents and hikers. *Depending on the situation of infectious diseases in Japan and the target area, cheering may be prohibited.
(4) The setting up of private aids is prohibited.

course precautions

Please be considerate of neighbors and vehicles, not only when participating in the event but also during the test run.
Please be especially careful when running with more than one person.
If you cause inconvenience to others, it may result in a situation where the course cannot be used for the event.
We appreciate your cooperation.
1.Late-night test runs (after 8:00 p.m.) are prohibited.
2.In residential areas and on streets with cars passing by, please hold the headlight in your hand. Please be careful not to shine your headlights into residences or hit drivers.
3.Please refrain from private conversations in residential areas.
4.Please follow the course designated by the organizer.
5.Please be sure to walk through the walking areas designated for safety or for the protection of nature and facilities.
6.Do not overtake on narrow roads, and call out to others when passing them, taking their safety into consideration.
7.Please follow the traffic rules, the traffic signals on the course, and the instructions of the guides.
8.The use of camping burners, etc. on the course is strictly prohibited.
9.Collecting or damaging plants is strictly prohibited.
10.The use of poles is prohibited. Sticks that have fallen on the trail also cannot be used.

changes and cancellations

1.The event may be cancelled or its content changed due to inclement weather or circumstances in the surrounding environment that may affect the smooth operation of the event.
2.The organizers reserve the right to change or reduce the course or cancel the event at their discretion in the event of unforeseen circumstances such as earthquakes or other natural disasters, inclement weather, illness, incidents, accidents, etc.
3.The organizers will decide how to notify the participants of any cancellation or course change/reduction during the event.
4.In the above cases, the organizer will contact you via your e-mail address by 5:00 p.m. on the day before the race.
5.No refunds will be made for any reason after the payment procedure has been completed.

convention participation pledge

In the natural environment, there is a possibility of encountering bears, bees, and other animals that can harm humans. In order to ensure the safe conduct of the event, please understand and agree to the following items before participating in the event.
1.I agree to and will abide by the Conditions of Participation, Precautions, Participation Agreement, and Countermeasures for Infectious Diseases.
2.I will pay attention to my health condition and participate in the event after having trained sufficiently and being in perfect physical condition with no heart disease, etc.
3.I have no objection to receiving first aid in the event that I am injured, have an accident, or become ill during the event. I further agree that my compensation will be covered by the insurance policy purchased by the organizer.
4.If I am injured or cause injury to others, I will be responsible for my own injuries and will not make any claim against the organizer for any related costs or damages.
5.In the event of unforeseen circumstances, such as earthquakes or other natural disasters, inclement weather, illness, incidents, or accidents, the participants agree that the organizers may, at their discretion, alter or reduce the course, or cancel the event.
6.I will not appeal against the organizer’s decision to call the police or fire department to rescue the runners. I will not make any claim against the organizers for rescue costs or compensation for damages.
7.I will not allow another person to run in my place (substitute runner).
8.I will participate in the race with the required equipment.
9.I will endeavor to protect the natural environment, will not stray from the trails, and will observe rules such as no overtaking in areas where it is necessary for the protection of nature.
10.I accept that I may be disqualified for violating the contents of my pledge.

Handling of Personal Information

1.Personal information submitted at the time of application for participation in the event will be managed by the Race Committee and used only to the extent necessary for the operation of the event (insurance coverage, sending of materials, etc.).
2.The copyright and portrait rights to photographs taken by staff members during the event belong to the organizers. The event participant agrees that images, photographs, articles, records, etc. (personal information such as name, age, gender, record, portrait, etc.) of the tournament may be used on the Internet, in printed matter, mass media, etc., and that the copyright, publication rights, and usage rights belong to the organizer.
3.The organizer will not use the personal information of the applicants for any purpose other than to provide necessary information regarding the event.
